Dog grooming refers to both the hygienic care and cleaning of a dog. It also includes enhancing the physical appearance of the dog.
Grooming is a vital part in the well-being and to keep the dog consistently healthy which in turn improves their lifespan. All breeds need grooming, now how much of it depends on the breed, their age and health of the pet. It is essential while many dogs shed, except a few, require regular grooming by professionals every 6-8 weeks’ maximum.
Why one needs to groom dogs?
Here are few reasons:
• Grooming decreases chance of various health related problems like thrush, scratches and other skin problems.
• To maintain general cleanliness of dog giving them an adorable physical appearance.
• Regular monitoring of dog’s health, checking for any cuts, swelling, lameness, or changes in temperament, all of these which could be an indication to its illness.
• Forging of a closer bond between the dog and the owner.
• Reducing infestation load of external parasites on skin.
Grooming also involves bathing. Dogs can be bathed by being sprayed with a hand held shower head, or doused with water from a bucket. Often they should be made to bath at least twice to remove all dirt efficiently. Shampoos and conditioner can also be used which should be mixed with hand warm water in the recommended ratio to make it easier and not cause any harm to the dog. Intense care should be taken to wash off the shampoo and conditioner thoroughly or it may cause irritation to its skin. There are many other ways one can take up to groom your dog but with extra care.
